EMERGING LEADERS COMPETITION EVENT RULES AND REGULATIONS

All tests will be timed in case of a tie score. Please instruct your students to bring pocket calculators if needed for that event. Scratch paper will be supplied.

ACCOUNTING
Participants will be given an examination to test their knowledge of accounting principles. This test is designed for students who have completed one year of accounting instruction. Test will be based on the material of a secondary Accounting I textbook. Score will be based on the number of correct responses.

AGRIBUSINESS TEST
Participants will be given an examination to test their knowledge of agribusiness industry. This test is designed for students who have an interest in agribusiness.

BUSINESS LAW
Participants will be given an objective examination to test their knowledge of business law. Score will be based on the number of correct responses. The test consists of 29 True-False questions and 71 Multiple Choice. The test focuses on Contract Law and Sales Law (UCC). Approximately 70% of the questions relate to contract law or Sales Law. The balance of the test is fairly evenly divided between Consumer Protection Laws, Wills, Bankruptcy Laws and Commercial Paper. Score will be based on the number of correct responses.

BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS
Participants will be given an objective examination to test their knowledge of personal and interpersonal communication skills. Emphasis is placed on the communication process, verbal and non-verbal skills, along with written communication skills. Score will be based on the number of correct responses.

BUSINESS ETHICS
Participants will be given an examination to test their knowledge of Business Ethics. This test will will contain ethical dilemmas that the business world faces.

DECA EVENTS
After the opening session, students will be directed to the waiting area for the DECA events. When it is their preparation time, the student(s) will be led into the preparation room, given the case study, scratch paper, and pencils. DECA Event students will be followed. At their presentation time, they will be led into the judging room.

ECONOMICS & PERSONAL FINANCE
Participants will be given an objective examination to test their knowledge of basic terminology, concepts and principles of microeconomics, macroeconomics and personal finance. Score will be based on the number of correct responses.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP
This examination is approximately 10% accounting, 5% economics, 5% finance 15% law, 35% management, and 30% marketing. It is intended for students with advanced studies. Score will be based on the number of correct responses.

FBLA EVENTS

After the opening session. students will be directed tp the waiting area for the FBLA events. When it is their preparation time, the student(s) will be led into the preparation room or judges, as events will be run with FBLA guidelines.

MARKETING MANAGEMENT

The questions in this examination is drawn from both the Management and Marketing disciplines. The Marketing test questions are drawn from strategies that allow companies to succeed in today's marketplace. Areas covered are customer focus, quality, technology, market planning, research, strategy, and consumer behavior. The emerging Management paradigm focuses on leadership, teamwork, collaboration, participation, communication and motivation. Most of the test questions are from these areas. Score will be based on the number of correct responses.

QUIZ BOWL
Quiz Bowl competition is teams of up to four (4) students who will do game show like competition against another team on business teams and knowledge.

WORD PROCESSING
This test will cover the fundamentals of producing professional documents Such as reports, letters, manuscripts, and papers using word processing software. Area included are creating, editing, formatting, and printing professional documents. Score will be based on the number of correct responses.
