Valkyries

The VCSU Valkyries, begun in fall 2010, is comprised of female members of the VCSU student body who have taken on the challenge of performing literature from the modern era written specifically for mature female voices. Much of the literature that the ensemble performs is not yet part of the "standard" repertoire of choral literature and show-cases living composers. The ensemble has been featured at the 2011 NDMEA show-case concert in Bismarck, ND. This ensemble is participating in the VCSU Pacific Northwest Tour and has prepared selections for the tour including Three Nightsongs (1. Evening 2. Moon Song 3. Water) by Joshua Shank, How the Flowers Came by Eleanor Daley, and The Rose of Sharon by Thomas Juneau.
