VCSU is accredited by the North Central
Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA),the National Council
for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), and the
Association of Schools of Music (NASM). The community School
of the Arts is a certified member of the national Guild of Community
Schools of the Arts. The Kathryn Center for Lifelong Learning
is a member of the International Association of Continuing Education
and Training.
The National Association of Schools of Music
was founded in 1924 for the purposes of securing a better understanding
among institutions of higher education engaged in work in music;
of establishing a more uniform method of granting credit; and
of developing and maintaining basic, threshold standards for
the granting of degrees and other credentials.
