This
is the Computer Help Desk area. It is the place were students, faculty
and staff get support for the robust computer and network services
that make our campus unique. Our claim to networking fame is that
we are "More Wired that the Top Ten Most Wired." This is where students come to pick up their notebook computer at the beginning of the year. During the year, students, faculty, and staff come here for answers to their questions about software usage, errors that occur on their computer, or to get broken parts fixed and/or replaced. Our current staff consists of: Director of micro Computer Services - Robert Brown; PC and LAN Specialist - Christopher (CJ) Kotta, and eight Student Assistants who work part-time in addition to attending classes. This is also where student will come to pick up digital cameras and/or video cameras that they may reserve through a form on the VCSU ITC website. Reformatted disks are available for sale here, and for a small fee, students are also able to print on the color-inkjet printer. In addition to supporting the notebook computer systems, we maintain the multimedia classrooms, networked printers, and desktop systems on campus. The Help Desk also provides systems for special workshops or presentations. Besides all of the services offered, students may come in to the lab area simply to do homework, print things off, check their email, or just study. The Help Desk is open for students to call in or stop by from 7:30am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm in the evenings, Monday through Thursday. |
