The main square in front of McFarland Hall is the "front yard" of the campus. Flanked by the
historic walking bridge, McFarland Hall, the Rhoades Science Center, Vangstad Hall, and Allen
Memorial Library, the square features a spectacular scene of ash, oak, maple and linden trees.
It takes on a unique personality with each change of season, but is always thought of as one of
the most beautiful and historic spots in North Dakota.
