Valley City State University has integrated portfolio assessment as a tool in the curriculum of the entire university. The result of this integration is to enable students to create CD-ROM portfolios prior to graduation. The project began in October of 1995. A five station multimedia lab was created to help students develop projects for the portfolios and create CD-ROMs. The lab has five stations, four Windows 2000 and an eMacintosh operating system. Each station is capable of scanning, capturing video, and writing CD-ROMs. Also available on one or more stations is audiotapes, microphone and special effects. The lab can be reserved for class use or students can reserve individual stations for their personal use. Assistance is available in the lab from the director or from the help desk students. "How To" sheets are available at each station with step by step instructions for each task. |
