The President's House was originally built in 1901 and was bought by the College in 1921. It was used as the official residence of college presidents and their families, and was the location of many official college events. In 1994, the State Board of Higher Education decided to provide presidents with a housing allowance rather than continue maintenance on the home, and it was converted to a guest inn. The house is now being preserved and managed by The President's House Preservation Society, a non-profit, all volunteer organization that functions under the guidance of the VCSU Foundation. It is available for either overnight stays or for daytime rentals. Any gifts and donations towards the preservation of this elegant home to ensure that it is available to the public and to visitors are fully tax deductible and greatly appreciated. |
