"Commonly known as "The Bubble" for its unique architectural style, the Osmon Field House holds most of the Physical Education, Health Education, and Athletic Training classes. The Men's and Women's basketball teams play in the gymnasium which seats approximately 2,500 people and received a new wood floor in 2005. This facility also has racquetball courts, a weight room and outdoor tennis courts and practice fields.
The Field House was named for Willis E. "Bill" Osmon, who joined the Department of Physical Education in 1947, became the Chair of the Division of Health and Physical Education in 1948, and also served as Director of Athletics. He was the head basketball coach between 1947 and 1969, and retired in 1982. Every fall in conjunction with Homecoming festivities, Bill Osmon himself hosts the "Osmon Fun Run," a 1.5 mile run through campus.
