2003-04 INTRAMURAL SUMMARY

1.        IM golf outing was held at the Valley City Country Club on Sept. 12.   40 Students and Faculty participated in the 9 hole shotgun event.  The results of the day were:  Low Gross Men Cody Usatis 36 & Women Erin Sorenson 45, Low net Men Kurry Delparte 33 & women Heide Geinger & Liz Kruger 40.  Other contest winners were: Longest Drive men T.J. Hansen & women Erin Sorenson, Longest Putt  Kim Kulmann, Closest to pin on second shot Cody Usatis, Closest to Pin Jared Hoff

2.        IM Golf outing was held at Bjornson Park Public course on Sept. 26.  20 Students, faculty & staff participated including 4 students from Mayville State University.  Results:  low Gross Men Brian O’Gorman 34 (MSU) & Women Kristin Moe 50.  low net men Brandt Wolf 30 & women Heidi Geinger 41.  Other contest winners were:  Longest Drive men Cody Usatis & women Kristin Moe, Closest to the pin Brandt Wolf, Closest Second Shot Dr. Gary Thompson & Longest Putt Cole Kringlen (MSU)

3.        Co-Ed Football attracted 8 teams. A total of 128 Students (79male & 58 female) participated.  The Championship tournament was won by Absolu-Talent in 35-34 thriller over The Ditch Pigs.  Play started Sept. 8th and continued through the championship on Oct. 13.

4.        IM Softball attracted 4 teams including a first for VCSU IM’s.  A female team competed in the male league.  A total of 56 students (42 male & 14 female participated.  The Long Shots made it 5 in a row in defeating the Testosterone Rejects 20–15 in the championship. A 13-13 tie for 3rd place between Off and Ballers (female team) occurred due to light & weather conditions.

5.        The first ever IM Co-Ed Soccer league was held this fall at VCSU.  4 teams completed from Sept 10 until the championship game on October 15th.  A total of 54 Students & faculty  ( 27male inc. 1 faculty & 27 female inc. 1 faculty) participated.  The inaugural championship was won by The Shaolin Bears in a  5-4 shoot-out over El mejor equipo

6.        Fall Volleyball league attracted 8 women & 3 male teams.  A total of 111 students (31 male & 80 female) participated.  Tom & his Pimps won the men’s league and Dirtypop went undefeated and won the woman’s league.  Play started on October  19 and concluded with the championship game on November 16th.

7.        VCSU’s first fall 3x3 Volleyball tourney  was held on Nov. 11 & 12th .  A total of 9 female teams and  42 Participants.  In a great championship match the TKS Lifers defeated Bilokerli Bombers.

8.        Fall Bowling Extravaganza attracted 141 Students, faculty & staff to Sky Lanes for an evening (9:30-12:30) of fun and free bowling and door prizes.  Top bowlers were: Women-  Randi Tompt 167 & Men- Kyle Johnson 172.

9.        3x3 Basketball tournament was held on Dec. 10 & 11th.  A total of 109 students (78 male & 31 female) participated.  The men’s championship was won by Velcro Shoes Inc. in a great contest 25-24 over Men Above Boys.  The women’s competition was won by VC4Life as they defeated Homeslices 21-20.

10.     3 Point Shooting contest was held with qualifying rounds starting on Jan. 25.  Semi-finals and championships were held during VCSU-U Mary basketball games.  A total of 54 students ( 15 female & 39 male ) participated.  The woman’s championship was won by Tara Erdmann defeated Ashleigh Crockett.  Men’s champion was Rob DeKrey who defeated Dave Trett.  Champions were repeat from 2003.

11.     Spring Bowling Extravaganza was held at Sky Lanes.  111 students & staff participated.  Top bowlers were: Women -Nikka Swenson 155 & Men- Kody Ussatis 221.  Over 40 door prizes ( donated by VC Merchants) were distributed.

12.     Basketball was a success with 16 male and 4 female teams.  A total of 195 students (151 male & 44 female) participated.  The men’s championship was won by Velcro Shoes INC in a great game (79-77) over WOYA.  The woman’s champ was Homeslices as they defeated Straight Money (46-45) in another great game.

13.     CoEd Volleyball attracted  16 teams.  A total of 183 students, faculty & staff (90male&93 female) participated.  Some great matches were played in the championship series.  Can You Smell That defeated Shizit  2-1 for the 2004 Championship.

14.     First Annual Spring Golf Scramble was held on May 4th at Bjornson Public Golf Course.  16 Teams and a record 75 students, faculty & staff participated.  Andrew Thompson, Doug Prosby, Jerimiah Stokka & Steve Fetting won the Championship with a 6 under par 29.  Other individual winners were Longest Drive Men – Bret Solberg, Long Drive Women- Loni Hall, Longest Putt- Heidi Gieger, Closest to Pin- Dave Bass & Top Team scorer ( most strokes used during round 20) Ronda Denbo.

15.     CoEd Softball started on April 19 with 12 teams.  A total of 191 students ( 118 male & 73 female ) participated.. The championship was won on May 5th  by Long Shots & Ladies as they scored 10 runs in the 7th to defeat life without Gary. ( 11-5 )
