V605.13 OFFICE HOURS

All faculty members should observe reasonable and regular office hours on the campus in their offices, classrooms, laboratories, and the library. It is understood that students deserve consideration in conferring with instructors, and that faculty require and are entitled to uninterrupted periods of study, preparation, paper grading, etc. It is also recognized that it is undesirable, if not impossible, to attempt to standardize office hours because of the variety of schedules, duties, and responsibilities confronting instructors, including rehearsals, field trips, committee work, etc. It is suggested when practical that all members of the teaching faculty conform to the general University business hours, reserving necessary periods for uninterrupted study and preparation. Each faculty member is expected to observe a self-determined schedule of office hours and to post the schedule of office hours in the divisional office area. Office hours are subject to review by division chairs and the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
