Valley City State University provides insurance programs to employees in accordance with North Dakota University System Human Resource Policy 9.1.

NDUS Human Resource Policy Manual: 9. Insurance: 9.1 The institution makes available to regular staff employees certain types of group insurance expressly for the purpose of insuring personal security planning. Such coverage may include medical insurance, life insurance and disability insurance.

Dental Insurance Plan
The dental plan is offered through the North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System. CIGNA is the current provider for dental insurance. All deductions are the responsibility of the employee.

Disability Insurance (NDPERS/TIAA-CREF)

Health Insurance Plan
The Health Insurance Plan is a comprehensive group health insurance plan through the North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System (underwritten by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota). The insurance plan does not provide dental or optical coverage. All premiums are currently paid by the University.

Life Insurance Plan
The Life Insurance Plan is offered through the North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System. A premium for $1,300 of term life insurance is paid by the University. Additional life insurance may be purchased in $5,000 increments by the employee to a maximum of $200,000 of coverage ($198,700 purchased plus the basic $1,300 provided) for the employee, $2,000 or $5,000 for dependents and up to $100,000 additional for spouses (spouse coverage is limited to 50% of employee coverage). Premiums on the additional insurance are based on the employee's age category.

Vision Insurance Plan
The vision plan is offered through the North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System. Ameritas is the current provider for vision insurance. All deductions are the responsibility of the employee.
