VCSU Application for Admission

Admission of Freshman Students

You have not attended a post-secondary institution since completing high school. For automatic admission, you must have completed 4 units English, 3 units Math (Algebra 1 or above), 3 units Lab Science, and 3 units Social Science.

If applying online, choose FYR as your admit type. A complete application includes:

• A non-refundable fee of $35. - Pay Online
• An official copy of the high school transcript or proof of successful completion of the GED.

• Results of the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) - [more info]

Admission of Transfer Students

You have attended one or more post-secondary institutions.

In order to be considered for admission, you must have a 2.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale. Applicants are reviewed and considered on an individual basis. If you have completed less than 24 transferable credits, you must follow freshman applicant requirements as well. If applying online, choose TRN as your admit type. A complete application includes:

• Official transcripts of all previous academic work from each institution attended - [more info]
• A copy of the high school transcript or proof of successful completion of the GED. This is not required of applicants who have completed 24 or more semester (36 quarter) hours of transferable credit.

• Results of the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). This is not required of applicants who have completed 24 or more semester (36 quarter) hours of transferable credit.

Admission of Returning Students

Welcome back to VCSU! You have taken coursework at VCSU and intend to take additional coursework. Download the Returning Student Form, print, complete, and mail to: Office of the Registrar, 101 College St SW, Valley City, ND 58072. Note: To serve you best, it is important that you complete all of the questions on the Returning Student Form. Please be as complete as possible. A complete application includes:

• Official transcripts of all academic work from each institution attended since leaving VCSU.

Admission of Non-Degree

You do not intend to earn a degree from VCSU but would like to enroll in a course, or are pursuing one of our non-degree certificates. A maximum of 16 credits may be taken as a non-degree student, at which time you will need to apply as a freshman or transfer student in order to take additional courses. Non-degree status should not be confused with being undecided nor be used as a method to avoid admission requirements of any other admit type. Non-degree students are not eligible for financial aid. If applying online, use NON as the admit type. A complete application includes:

Admission of Jump Start Students (Early Entry & Dual Credit)

You have not graduated from high school and want to take courses from VCSU that will be applied to both high school and college requirements (dual credit) or for college credit only (early entry). If applying online, use DC as the admit type if applying college courses to both HS and college requirements, or ERE if taking courses for college credit only. You must have 3.25 cumulative GPA to be admitted. A complete application includes:

• Dual Credit Form (only if using college course for high school requirement as well) - Download Form
• Official high school transcript showing progress toward completion of the College Preparatory Course Requirements (4 units English, 3 units Math, 3 units Lab Science, 3 units Social Science)
