Building Information

McFarland Hall is the first building to be constructed on the Valley City State University campus. Construction on the building was completed in 1892 and was originally called "Old Main" and was renamed McFarland Hall after VCSU's 2nd President, George A. McFarland.

McFarland currently houses the administrative offices, multiple classrooms, faculty offices and a small theatre.

Available Spaces

Theatre 320 is located in the center of McFarland on 3rd floor. It is home to many of VCSU's own theatre productions and features a unique setting for the audience and cast. Theatre 320 offers a seating arrangement that circles the stage, completely surrounding the cast with the audience.

Theatre 320 has mainly been used for theatrical productions and features a lighting and sound system with a sound booth and seating for 100 audience members.

Rental Guidelines

Events may be held from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. VCSU reserves the right to review event plans to ensure that they are compatible with the mission of the university. We welcome the use of our space for meetings, performances, music contests, and rehearsals.

VCSU educational programs have first priority for the use of Theatre 320 with university groups having second priority and all other third-party groups having third priority.

Smoking is not permitted at Theatre 320 or on any University-owned property. Food and beverages are not allowed in the theatre except by special arrangement.

All users must agree to the Theatre 320 Use Agreement prior to hosting any event at the venue.
