Shelly Ellig Field at Lokken Stadium

Research, bidding, and raising funds have all been underway to replace the turf at Lokken Field.

VCSU is in the process of signing contracts with engineers and contractors and is excited to get this project underway. The plan will be to work as quickly as possible to have the new turf installed and ready for the football team this fall.

VCSU Update: 7/13/2011 CB&G are in the process of fine-grading the class 5 material that was placed on the field last week. Today they were working on pouring the exterior curbs surround the field. In the next couple days, permeable filter paper will be placed on the field. These pieces of filter paper get welded together by melting plastic. The next step will be placing the drainage system and granite. If the weather cooperates and everything continues to go smoothly, the crew will begin to lay the artificial turf.

VCSU Update: 7/20/2011 The turf has arrived and is on site. Rubber and silica sand continues to be shipped in from St. Cloud, MN. If the weather continues to cooperative and everything goes well, the crew will be able to being laying the turf on Sunday (7/24/11).
