Follow-up on Rhoades Science Center Construction11/9/2011
Tomorrow (11/9), JP Structures will be working on the steam lines for the new building. This work will be contained to the area the crew dug up and prepped today.
New sewer lines will be installed over the holiday break (11/11 & 11/12). 2nd Avenue SE (in front of Facilities Services) will be blocked off starting Friday morning and there will be NO WATER in McCarthy both Friday and Saturday. Construction on the Rhoades Science Center BEGINS!11/7/2011
Today is the day (Monday, November 7th)! JP Structures, the general contractor on the project, will be on campus putting up temporary fencing around the construction site. They will also be bringing in equipment to the gravel Science Center parking lot (this means part of the lot will be closed off to student/employee parking- remember the North River Parking lot is available to all vehicles WITH permits).
On Tuesday (November 8th), JP Structures will be starting work on the new sewer lines. The lines will run from the north entrance of McCarthy, east to 2nd Avenue and then back up to the construction site. ALL of 2nd Street will need to be closed Tuesday and Wednesday (with the potential for additional days) making parking along the street inaccessible. Employees will still be able to park in the McCarthy lot by entering the alley from the west side. Sidewalks going into McCarthy will also be closed off to traffic- you will need to enter McCarthy from the breezeway entrance. As always, please use caution while driving or walking through construction areas. We will keep you posted with additional updates via email and the RSC Project Website. |
