Position Description: Valley City State University is searching for a men’s and women’s head cross country and track and field coach.  This is a full time position responsible for all phases of the men’s and women’s cross country and indoor/outdoor track programs. The program is being restarted following an eight year hiatus and a recent successful private fundraising drive to bring the programs back to campus. The program will begin competition in Fall 2010. The head coach is responsible for scheduling of competitions and practices; recruiting, coaching, mentoring and retaining student athletes; monitoring annual budgets; arranging team and recruiting travel; supervising assistant coaches; other departmental duties; fostering strong alumni relations and meeting all institutional, NAIA and Dakota Athletic Conference rules and regulations.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, coaching experience in cross country, indoor and outdoor track.

 

 Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree, accomplished coaching background, excellent communication skills; strong organizational and leadership skills; a proven ability to recruit quality student-athletes; a commitment and history of integrating the student athlete into the campus community of a small college.
