Students Form Fisheries and Wildlife Conservation Club
A group of approximately 20 VCSU students, mostly students who are majoring in Wildlife and Fisheries Science, recently formed a new campus club: the VCSU Fisheries and Wildlife Conservation Club. The club is a student organization with plans to do public service projects related to wildlife and fisheries, field trips, and attend student conclaves.

Bauer Named Region III Athletics Director of the Year
Don Bauer, former athletics director at Valley City State University, has been honored as the 2003-04 NAIA-ADA Region III Athletics Director of the Year. The award is selected annually from the 14 NAIA Regions.
Dr. Hagen Named NDMTA Teacher of the Year
Dr. Sara Hagen, Assistant Professor of Music at Valley City State University (VCSU), has been named the North Dakota Music Teachers’ Association (NDMTA) 2004 Teacher of the Year. Sara was nominated by the Valley City Music Teachers’ Association and selected to receive the award by a committee of NDMTA executive board members.
VCSU Plays Critical Role Attracting Software Company
Enrollment Up 4%, FTE Up 9%
Valley City State University (VCSU) today released final enrollment figures for the fall semester of 2004 showing headcount of 1,037 students, up from 998 students for the same semester of 2003. Full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment stood at 899, a 9 percent increase from 824 for the same period last year.
VCSU Awarded $1.5 Million INBRE Grant
VCSU announced it has been awarded a $1.5 million grant over five years as part of the IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE), a NIH program that provides support to research institutions for building and strengthening research infrastructure and increasing capacity to conduct cutting-edge biomedical and behavioral research. VCSU plans to use the funding for continued development of its Health Sciences baccalaureate program and student centered research program.
VCSU Continues to Earn High Marks in Student Satisfaction
The results of the 2004 Noel-Levitz Student Satisfaction Inventory are in, and once again, VCSU has great reason to be proud!
VCSU Hosts National Symposium on Music Instruction Tech.
VCSU will host the sixth annual National Symposium on Music Instruction Technology June 17 - 19 in Froemke Auditorium. The event is expected to attract a national audience of music educators and music education researchers with an interest in technology-enhanced music instruction.
Klapp Named To NAIA All-Region III Team
Senior Tom Klapp added to his post-season awards by being named to the NAIA Regon III team for the second year in a row.

Valley City State Univesity's Tom Klapp was named the Most Valuable Graduating Senior in the DAC-10 Conference as selected by the conference coaches.

Peters Named to Lead Valley City State Athletic Department
Valley City, ND – Valley City State University President Dr. Ellen Chaffee is pleased to announce that Doug Peters has been named the Athletic Director for the Vikings. Peters will begin his duties on July 1 and will replace Don Bauer, who is retiring after serving as the VCSU athletic director for nine years.
VCSU Seniors Develop Propane Tracking System
Two VCSU seniors developed a key software application for Dakota Plains Corporation for their senior capstone project in Computer Information Systems. Mark Becker, Petroleum Specialist with Dakota Plains Corporation, said, “With this propane tracking program, we can do a much more professional job of managing our propane business, which will save our company money." |
