Mills recognized with Staff Member of the Quarter award

Mills recognized with Staff Member of the Quarter award
VCSU President Dr. Steve Shirley and his Cabinet presented Brad Mills, Director of Enterprise Applications, with the Staff Member of the Quarter award for the fourth quarter of 2012. The award recognizes ongoing and continued actions or behaviors furthering the vision and mission of the University. This is the second time this new award has been presented.

Brad was nominated by Joe Tykwinski, Executive Director of IT/CIO. In the nomination form, Joe said "Brad always has a positive attitude and great work ethic. He is always polite and helpful. On many occasions his demeanor has diffused the emotions of others and resulted in teamwork to correct the issue at hand. He is someone you can always count on: to be on time, to follow up on issues, to have a steady attitude and demeanor, to work well with others, and to get the job done. He attends Bb World annually and is constantly learning new systems and software versions for VCSU. He is involved in ND employee rights and ND PERs activities. His leadership for enterprise applications is a big factor in the fact that VCSU has the best set of enterprise applications available to employees AND students of any university in ND. His recent involvement with the Viking Card system was significant to the overall success of the project. Brad is a humble, quiet, in the background kind of guy. He is not an obvious choice to win this award because he and his team are not in the stoplight. He SHOULD win because he exemplifies all the low maintenance, highly productive VCSU employees that quietly do a great job day in and day out."

If you would like to nominate a staff member for the Staff Member of the Quarter award, the nomination forms can be found at the Recognition at VCSU page. The deadline for the next award is March 15, 2013.

The 21st BIT Day scheduled January 30

Valley City State University Division of Business & Information Technology (BIT) will be hosting the Business and Information Technology (BIT) Day on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, on VCSU campus.

BIT Day is a day of competitive events for high school students. This year VCSU Division of Business & Information Technology, along with the DECA and SHRM student organization, will host 205 students from 12 schools. The students competing will either take a written test and/or perform role-play events. The students will be entertained by groups arranged by Dr. Christopher Redfearn and Jon Rudolph. The day will conclude with a key note speaker from Microsoft on the different career paths within information technology, and the awards ceremony.

Please help the BIT, DECA, and SHRM in welcoming these students and their advisors to campus.

BIT would like to thank Facilities Services, Jenni Lou Russi, Dr. Christopher Redfearn, Jon Rudolph, the faculty and staff of the department, and the student volunteers who help make this day possible.
