Owen published

An article by Jackie Owen, “Todd’s Song: The Next Verse,” was published in the July 2013 issue of Reverberations, a professional journal published by the American Orff-Shulwerk Association (AOSA), a group of educators dedicated to teaching music and movement through an approach developed by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman. Owen is an instructor in the School of Education and Graduate Studies.

“Todd’s Song: The Next Verse” is a follow-up article to Owen’s piece “Todd’s Song,” published in the AOSA’s Orff Echo in 1994.

Owen’s two articles paint a portrait of her son, Todd, severely brain damaged at birth, and his ability to respond music. The first, published when Todd was three, described his ability to learn through music. The second article relates Todd’s trials, tribulations and triumphs during the next 20 years of his life.

Contact Owen at if you’d like to read the two pieces.
