VCSU Scholarship Auction needs your help
Get your division or department together to contribute a bottle of wine for the Mystery Wine Table at the 20th Annual VCSU Scholarship Auction, held on Friday, April 25, at the Valley City Eagles Club. We are looking for bottles of wine that retail at least $20. They will be disguised in boxes for participants to choose from. The winners receive a bottle worth at least $20, and all proceeds benefit V-500 and Century Club scholarships.
Ask your colleagues to chip in a few dollars to put toward a bottle of wine (or two) to help support this great event. Please let Alison Kasowski know if you’ll be contributing before April 16 to ensure proper recognition of donors.
Physiology class hosts Lose to Win competition
Sarah Milner’s HPER 444 Exercise Physiology of Peak Performance organized a Lose To Win competition for their ability project.
The competition cost each participant $5. The first 10 participants to sign up were eligible to use the BodyMedia FIT LINK Armband at no charge. Activities included weekly weigh-ins, body composition measurements and circumference measurements. If a participant missed a weigh-in or gained weight they were charged $1.
The HPER 444 students presented six free seminars on Tuesday evenings. Lose to Win seminar topics included Goal Setting and Body Composition, Eat That Not This, Fitness With Friends, Beach Bod Abs, Killer Kettlebells, and Stretching and Flexibility.
Twenty-two students began the competition, which started Tuesday, Jan. 28, and ended Tuesday, March 11. The group lost a total of 85 pounds and 181.25 total inches.
Congratulations to Erin Edinger and Tom Grossell, winners of the Lose to Win competition! They had the highest percentage of weight lost and each won $76. Congratulations to Becky Swenson on losing the highest percentage of inches.
