Three Valley City State volleyball players have been named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes as announced Friday by the NAIA National Office.
Seniors Aurissa Martens (Manitou, Manitoba) and Anna Neufeld (Steinbach, Manitoba) and junior Kaitlyn Heuring (Winnipeg, Manitoba) were all honored with the NAIA Scholar-Athlete award.
In order to be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
Neufeld is majoring in Business Administration at Valley City State. Martens and Heuring are both majoring in Physical Education. All three also played major roles this season in helping the Viking volleyball team to a third-place finish in the North Star Athletic Association.
