What: VCSU women's basketball at Dickinson State
When: Wednesday, Dec. 11, 6:30 p.m. CST
After 15 long days off, the Valley City State women's basketball team is finally back on the court tonight.
The Vikings will make a quick trip to Dickinson State for a non-conference game against the Blue Hawks. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. MST and 6:30 p.m. CST. Radio coverage of the game can be heard on KOVC 1490 and NewsDakota.com.
Valley City State (3-4) has not played a game since an exhibition contest Nov. 25 at MSU-Moorhead. The Vikings last counting game came Nov. 22 when they knocked off Viterbo University 83-50 in Valley City.
Tonight's contest is a rematch from earlier this season. On Nov. 19, Dickinson State (7-3) defeated the Vikings 73-58 in Valley City. The Blue Hawks used a late first-half rally to build a 40-27 lead and extended it in the second half before the Vikings made a late run.
The Vikings shot just 31 percent in that loss, including a 6-for-29 performance from beyond the arc. Brittany Lehner scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Vikings. Lehner is shooting 64 percent from the field this season and leads the Vikings in point per game (16.4) and rebounds per game (6.1).
VCSU was scheduled to host Trinity Bible College on Dec. 3, but that game had to be postponed due to travel conditions and will tentatively be made up in January.
Following the game at Dickinson, the Vikings will break for Finals Week, and then will hit the road Dec. 20 for a doubleheader at Minnesota-Morris. The Viking women will also make a trip to California in late December.
