Three different Vikings scored in double figures Wednesday night, but it wasn't enough as the VCSU women's basketball team lost 70-57 in Dickinson.
It was Valley City's first game since Nov. 25.
Brittany Lehner led the Vikings with 13 points and nine rebounds in the loss. Kelsey Hunter added 12 points and five rebounds. Stephanie Pedersen chipped in 10 points and Megan Trautman scored eight off the bench.
The Vikings (3-5) and Blue Hawks (8-3) went back-and-forth for most of the first half before a 9-0 run by VCSU gave them their largest lead of the game at 23-15. Dickinson would follow with their own run, rattling off 16 straight points to build a 31-23 lead.
Dickinson led 36-27 at halftime. The Blue Hawks made 46 percent of their shots overall. Dickinson was led by 19 points from TaRicka Linzy and 16 points from Jess Bygate.
The Vikings shot 34 percent overall and were 4-for-24 from 3-point range.
