Both teams struggled to push across runs in game one of the doubleheader, combining to leave 26 runners on base in the extra-inning contest.

Nate Bagby's seeing-eye single through the right side delivered the Vikings a walk-off win, scoring Dan Buehner in the bottom of the 10th. Buehner led off the inning with a double to deep left-center, and moved to third on a groundout before Bagby's game-winning hit.

Dakota State struck first with a single run in the top of the first inning. Valley City State bounced back with a single run in the sixth. The two teams ended the originally scheduled seven innings tied at 1-1. Dakota State scored in the top of the 8th to go up 2-1.

VCSU answered back in the bottom of the 8th inning. Jake Rambow was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Pinch runner Derek Elliott moved to third on a single by Brady Anderson, and then came in to tie the game at 2-2 on a one-out single by Buehner. The Vikings had the bases loaded with one out in the 8th, but could not score the game-winning run until their 10th-inning rally.

Buehner led the Viking offense with four hits, a run and an RBI. Elliott and Cole Honl each scored a run and Bagby came up with two hits and the game-winning RBI.

Chris Holden pitched seven strong innings on the mound, allowing six hits and one run while striking out 10 Trojans. Jaime Villarreal pitched three innings in relief to pick up the win, allowing four hits and one run while striking out four.

Corey Pudas was perfect on the mound through four innings as he picked up a complete-game victory in game two.

Pudas allowed just four hits and two runs in seven innings, leading the Vikings to a 5-2 victory. He set down the first 12 Dakota State batters in order. Pudas received early run support with single runs in the first and second innings and two runs in the fourth. VCSU led 5-0 after five innings before Dakota State scored runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Viking defense turned double plays in the fifth and seventh innings to help Pudas out of a pair of jams.

Anthony Necochea collected two hits in the leadoff position, scored a run and drove in a run. Brady Anderson went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a triple. Cole Honl, Tom Houdek and Jared Meiklejohn all picked up an RBI.
