Dickinson State ended the Vikings' season with an 8-2 win in loser-out action Sunday afternoon at the NSAA/Frontier Conference Baseball Tournament in Valley City.

The Blue Hawks built an early 5-0 lead after scoring three runs in the first and two in the second inning off Viking starter Mike Gershman.

VCSU fought back with two runs in the third inning, but the Viking offense could do no more the rest of the game. Brendan Hardaway pitched a complete-game for Dickinson, allowing just five hits and two runs in nine innings. He held the Vikings scoreless over the final six innings.

Gershman was tagged with the loss after working two innings and allowing five runs. Jaime Villarreal pitched six innings in relief, allowing four hits and three hits. All three of those runs came in the eighth inning when the Blue Hawks added some insurance runs.

Brady Anderson drove in VCSU's two runs with an RBI single in the top of the third inning. Anderson, Jake Rambow, Tom Houdek, Nate Bagby and Kayl Hamre all had one hit each.

Jordan Tescher went 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs to lead Dickinson State. Chris Mjelstad was 3-for-5 with a run and two RBIs.

Valley City State ends the season with a 19-29 overall record.
