Valley City—Valley City State University Men’s Basketball Coach Adam DeHaan announces that Brandon Bata led NAIA Division II in field goal percentage for the 2003-2004 season. He converted 146 of 223 field goal attempts for 65.5%
The sophomore post tied with Doug Bell (186-284, 65.5%) of Taylor (Indiana) for the best field goal percentage in the nation. Keith Davis (210-347, 60.5%) of Savannah Art & Design followed Bata and Bell for 3rd in the country.
The accomplishment also set the single season field goal percentage record at VCSU, which was previously held by Bruce Anderson (49-76 64.5%) in 1984. Last season, Bata averaged 12.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. Coach DeHaan stated, "Brandon has worked extremely hard to attain this level of play. We will count on him to be the hub of our program his remaining two years."
