Spearfish, SD - The season did not end on the positive note the Vikings Men’s Basketball team had hoped it would as they fell to Black Hills State by a score of 67-89 Saturday night in Spearfish, SD.

After running off three impressive conference victories in a row to jump back into the playoff picture, the Vikings (6-12, 14-14) faded away with two tough losses on the season’s final weekend.

The Yellow Jackets (6-12, 11-16) were able to close out their disappointing season with a win against the Vikings thanks in part to Hallard Jackson and his 24 points on 11 for 15 shooting. Senior Devin Gonzales, playing in the final game of his collegiate career, also led the way for Black Hills State with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists on the night.

Senior Tyrone Terry led the way offensively for the Vikings with 18 points on the night, followed by Jonathan Lindahl (13), Brady Ernst (11), and Brandon Bata (10) who all scored in double figures. Saturday’s game was the end to several Vikings careers at Valley City State, including the teams leading scorer Terry, leading rebounder Terrance Allen, Kevin Faulkner and Matt Klabo.

The Vikings ended the season in a three way tie for the eight and final spot in the DAC-10 tournament at 6-12, but due to a tiebreaker VCSU and Black Hills State lost out too Si Tanka-Huron.
