Blair, NE - The Valley City State University baseball team dropped a pair of games to two-time defending GPAC champion Dana College (NE) on Saturday before splitting a double header with Midland Lutheran College on Sunday.

The Vikings (1-5) surrendered a five run lead in game one only to lose in 10 innings to the Vikings of Dana College.
VCSU used a three run fourth inning and a two run fifth to give the Vikings and starter Kory Foss a 7-2 leading heading into the seventh.

Foss, after giving up two runs in the first inning settled down to pitch five shutout innings before walking and hitting the first two batters he faced in the seventh. With two outs, Dana scored the tying run on an error that would have ended the game.

Dustin Grabowska and Doug Lonski had two hits and two rbi's for the Vikings. Foss gave up two runs and scattered nine hits while walking two.

Dana (11-12) topped Valley City 10-6 in the nightcap. Dana broke open a tight game with four runs in the fifth and stifled the Vikings bottom part of the order as all six Vikings hits came from the top five names in the lineup.

Lonski had two hits again for the Vikings and Casey Huntsinger had one hit and three rbi's. David Skogen (0-1) went four innings and gave up six runs to get the loss.
