Valley City State University Athletic Director Doug Peters announced the 05-06 playoff pairings for the Dakota Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Playoffs today.
On the women’s side of the conference, the Vikings will be headed to Madison, South Dakota for a match-up with Dakota State University.
Despite being swept during the regular season the Vikings head into the conference tournament with momentum. During the last half of the conference season VCSU has gone 3-4 with a losing margin of less than 3 points in three of those losses. Winning three of their last four games the Vikings are counting on mainstays Loni Hall (13.9 ppg, 7.4 rpg), Janae Larson (11.1 ppg), and Mallory Undlin (9.8 ppg,7.8 rpg).
Tip-off is 7 p.m. on the Dakota State Campus.
The men’s squad, under first year head coach Jeff Kaminsky, will be hosting the first home playoff game since the creation of the Dakota Athletic Conference. With the best finish in conference standings since 1994-1995, the Vikings will host conference foe Dickinson State. The home court advantage played a pivotal role during the regular season match-ups as the home team won each of the match-ups.
With a 2-5 start in the first half of DAC play, the Vikings finally hit their stride in the second half of the conference season. Behind the strong play of Brady Ernst (12 ppg, 3 apg, 3 rpg) and Brandon Bata (13 ppg, 7 rpg) the Vikings finished the second half of conference play with a strong 5-2 finish. The Vikings ride a 4 game home winning streak into Wednesday night’s tilt with Dickinson State.
Tip-Off is at 7 p.m. in the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for students, children and senior citizens. In accordance with Dakota Athletic Conference policies no passes will be accepted.
