Head VCSU Volleyball Coach Craig Case has announced the signing of Hillsboro, ND native Ashley Haines. Ashley is the daughter of Bill Haines and Candy Haines. 'We're very happy that Ashley decided to come to VCSU,' commented Case. 'She's athletic, explosive, and has good size. She'll be a good fit into our system.'
The 5'11' hitter from Hillsboro capped a terrific senior year leading the Hillsboro Borros to their first state title since 2000. In the process, she earned all-state distinction and was named to the all-tournament team at the North Dakota State tournament. When asked about her senior year and her personal success Haines responded, 'I know this wouldn't have been possible for me without my teammates and thank them very much.'
'I really like Ashley's presence and demeanor. She understands the importance of her teammates and will no doubt make a great teammate here in the ranks of Viking Volleyball,' commented Coach Case. 'I coached Ashley several years ago in a camp and I really liked her attitude and coachability then and am looking forward to working with her the next four years as our program tries to continue to improve.'
Hillsboro head coach Jamie Rerick commented, 'Ashley is a team player and always encouraged her teammates vocally and physically. I know that the girls definitely looked at her as a leader and she played that role very well.' Rerick also added, 'I can see Ashley being very successful in her college volleyball career. I feel that she will be very dedicated to the program and will be willing to do anything for the team.'
Ashley becomes the third signee for the Vikings this off-season. She joins Valley City senior Jill Noeske and Central Cass's Mariah Martin.
