Freshman Krystal Hathaway made her college debut in style striking out the first nine putouts and tallying 18 for the game to lead the Vikings to a 9-2 victory versus Northwestern College (St. Paul, MN). Hathaway gave up three hits, two unearned runs and walked two to earn her first collegiate career win.

Offensively the Vikings were led by sophomore Jessica Ruzicki who was three for four at the plate and scored two runs. Morgan Tate and Kailey Rintala also tallied two hits a piece while Kelli Unrein hit her first home run of the season in the Viking eleven hit effort.

In game two of the doubleheader, Alana Purvis picked up her second win of the young season, limiting Northwestern to only two runs, one earned on two hits, seven strikeouts and three base on balls.

The Vikings trailed 2-1 until they plated two runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and five in the sixth to put away the Eagles. Ruzicki and Carter led the way for the Vikings picking up two hits a piece while the Vikings picked up a season high eight base on balls. With the nightcap win the Vikings move to 4-0 on the season and will play a double header versus Fisher College on Sunday at 3:00 and 5:00 pm before finishing with an 8:00 pm matchup versus Ancaster of Ontario.
