VCSU racked up 540 yards on offense, 349 through the air, in a 37-18 victory vs. Peru State on Saturday. Senior quarterback Jason Beilke passed for 324 yards while going 22-33 in pass attempts. AJ Pfeifer ran for 63 yards on only 10 attempts in pacing the ground attack.

Senior wide receiver Chauncey Calhoun had another outstanding day collecting 10 receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown. Calhoun also threw one pass for a 25 yard completion. His counterpart Dan Hill caught four balls, two for touchdowns. Hill had 78 yards receiving for the day. AJ Pfeifer added 44 yards receiving which put him at 107 total yards on offense. Andy Derilus added two scores on the ground for the Vikings.

The Viking defense allowed Peru State 226 yards on the ground, most of which came in the first half. In the second half the Vike's front seven held Peru to just one score and limited the effectiveness of the Peru ground attack. In the secondary VCSU held PSU to just 128 yards and allowed no scores through the air.

The win moves VCSU to 2-0. Next week the Vikings will host Jamestown College at Lokken Field in Valley City at 1:30. Jamestown enters the game at 1-1 after a win over Peru State in week one and a 37-13 loss to Wisconsin-Stout last week.
