Valley City--A pair of losses did not keep the Viking volleyball team away from earning conference honors.

[image2]Heidi Larson (Sr., Grand Rapids, MN) and Amanda Smith (Sr., Burnsville, MN) were named Hitter of the Week and Libero of the Week, respectively, in the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC).

Larson put down 55 kills and recorded 21 digs in two matches last weekend. Smith dug up 87 digs, nearly 10 a set, in two losses, a five-setter at Mayville State and a four-set loss at Dakota State. It was the fifth time this season Smith won the award.

The Vikings are 3-6 in DAC play, and travel to Black Hills State Friday and South Dakota Mines Saturday. The Friday night match will be broadcast on Dakota Country Radio, with pre-match coverage beginning at 7:35 p.m., and first serve scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
