Taylor Nelson went six strong innings and the Vikings used a five run seventh to open up a six run lead. Derek Zitzow threw a scoreless seventh to seal the win. VCSU used a balanced offensive attack to score their nine runs. Nine different players notched base hits and Josh Standing Elk collected two hits including a double. The key plays in the game were a game tying two run triple from Josh Evans and a two run pinch hit double from Brenden Shearer. The Viking defense played errorless baseball in the game.
Tanner Bombenger collected three hits and stole two bases to lead the Vikings in the back end of the double header. Again the Viking offense was spread throughout the lineup. In game two eight players had base hits including doubles from Matt Borgford and Cory Arnason. Dan Maurer delivered a quality outing pitching six innings, allowing three hits and one run while walking two and striking out nine. Viking defense equaled their effort from game one by playing errorless baseball in the game.
