Viking Baseball Falls Short in Texas

Valley City--The Viking baseball team came up a run short in Texas yesterday.

The Vikings fell to Fisher College (Boston, MA) 6-5 Wednesday afternoon in Brownsville, TX. It was their sixth straight loss of the trip.

Valley City State took a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the sixth, after rallying from behind with five runs in three innings. Fisher scratched out two in their half of the sixth, including an unearned run, for the win.

Josh Evans (Fr., Hayfield, MN, pictured right) and Cory Arnason (Sr., Airdrie, AB) each went 2-3. Evans scored twice, and Arnason added an RBI.

Logan Midthun (Jr., Enderlin, ND) took the loss in relief, surrendering two runs, one earned, on three hits in the sixth.

The Vikings went on to lose to Texas-Brownsville 6-1 in the nightcap. No report on the game was available. They continue their trip with Concordia, NE Thursday.
