Finalists Selected for VCSU Athletic Director

A committee charged with filling the athletic director vacancy at Valley City State University has narrowed the search to three finalists.
The position of athletics director became available when BJ Pumroy announced his resignation after being named Director of Athletics at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. The finalists will be on campus for interviews between June 14 – 18, and the public is invited to attend a meeting with the Viking Booster Board in the Alumni Room in McFarland Hall at times noted below.
The finalists are:
Jack Denholm has been the dean of student services and athletic director for Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, IA since 1999. Previously, he was at Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN where he served as the athletic director, instructor, head wrestling coach, head softball coach, assistant football coach, and intramural director. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Sports Administration from Mankato State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education from Wartburg College. Mr. Denholm will meet with the Booster Board and the public at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, June 15.
John Mark Adkison is the director of athletic development at Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, FL since 2003. Previous employers have included the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) where he was a senior marketing coordinator, and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) where he served in the roles of championship events coordinator, marketing assistant and sports information intern. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Sports Information from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business administration from Taylor University in Upland, IN. Mr. Adkinson will meet with the Booster Board and the public at 4:00 pm on on Wednesday, June 16.
Richard Speas has been the director of athletics at Western Texas College in Snyder, TX since 2008. Previous employers have included Peru State College where he was the director of athletics, William Penn University where he was involved in admissions and coaching, and Southern Virginia University where he was the director of athletics. He holds a Master's degree in Sports Administration from Truman State University (MO.) and a Bachelor's degree from William Penn University. Mr. Speas will meet with the Booster Board and the public at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 18.
