Rough Day for Viking Pitchers in Loss

Valley City--Arizona was not kind to Viking pitching yesterday.
Springfield College pounded out 14 runs in a 14-3 win over the Viking baseball team yesterday in Tempe, AZ.
Four Viking pitchers took tried their luck on the mound yesterday, and all surrendered runs in their outing. The Vikings issued 11 walks and four hit batsmen in the game.
Jesse Brooks (Fr., Tempe, AZ) took the loss, giving up three runs on just three hits, walking five through four innings.
Springfield's big inning came in the eighth, where they went off for five runs on just one hit. The bases were loaded on two walks and a hit batsman, and the first two runs scored after a bases-loaded beanball and another walk. A two-run double then cleared the bases.
Offensively, Matt Borgford (Sr., Pinawa, MB) led the way with two hits, including a double and an RBI. The vikings tallied nine hits but could not get one in a timely situation.
The Vikings are now 4-6, and face Concordia College in Mesa, AZ today.
