Vikings Spanked by Jimmies

Valley City--Jamestown College may trail Valley City State in the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) baseball standings, but they made a statement yesterday.
The Jimmies swept the Vikings in a doubleheader, taking game one 19-6 and game two 8-4 at Charlie Brown Memorial Baseball Field in Valley City.
Jamestown College pounded out 15 hits in game one, and took advantage of two Viking errors for three unearned runs. They also received six walks in five innings of Viking pitching.
The second inning of the game saw 11 runs score, with the Jimmies scoring six in the top, and the Vikings countering with five. The Jimmies then piled on nine more in the third.
Jesse Ramirez (Sr., Santa Fe Springs, CA) and Andy Racus (Sr., Federal Way, WA) each had a double and a homerun in the opening game. Wes Hardy (Jr., Renton, WA) earned the win.
Jesse Brooks (Fr., Tempe, AZ) took the loss, walking four and giving up four hits in just 1.2 innings of work. Preston Jensen (So., Valley City, ND) and Justin Connell (Sr., Bismarck, ND) each had two hits and an RBI. Mark Howell (Jr., West Seattle, WA) plated two with a double.
Jimmie first baseman Sam Lawless (Jr., Victoria, BC) led the way in game two with three hits and three RBI in an 8-4 Jimmie win in the nightcap.
Ben Watkins (So., LaMoure, ND) earned the win, working three innings, striking out five.
Roberto Rodriguez (Sr., Chandler, AZ) took the loss, allowing 10 hits and a pair of walks in four innings. Howell drove in three Viking runs.
The Vikings are scheduled to host Northern State today at 3:00 p.m.
