Jeff Kaminsky, Head Men's Basketball Coach at Valley City State University, has announced that Malcolm McDonald from Shoemaker High School in Killeen, TX has recently signed a Letter of Intent to attend VCSU and join the Viking basketball program beginning with the 2011-12 school year.

A 6'7 Forward, Malcolm was a standout player at Shoemaker High School where his senior season he averaged 17.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 3.4 blocks per game. He was named 2nd Team All-District and had a season high 33 points and 26 rebounds in a home win against Copperas Cove.

Shoemaker High School Head Coach Marc Minatrea comments, 'Malcolm is a versatile player that can play in the paint and on the perimeter on each end of the floor. He is a great help defender in the lane, and can score in the low post and can step out and make jumpers and 3 point shots. Malcolm has a very high ceiling and much room for improvement as he gets stronger. If he reaches his potential in college he will be a great player for Valley City State University.'

Kaminsky also comments on McDonald, 'Malcolm is a great addition to our program. He is a quality person who had an outstanding senior season. He is a productive player on both ends of the floor. He is a versatile scorer, has the ability to be a dominating rebounder, and can really impact the game with his defensive ability to change or block shots. With his ability to rebound, Malcolm has an opportunity to make an immediate impact in our program.'
