Vikings Move to 3-1

Valley City State used a powerful rushing attack to control the game and earn a road victory Saturday night in Rapid City. The Vikings rushed 44 times for 284 yds on the day, good for their biggest ground total of the season. AJ Pfeifer (SR, RB, Buffalo ND) carried 26 times for 186 yds and a touchdown. Cody Kilthau (SR, DB, Mililani HI) intercepted two passes and changed the momentum of the game by returning his first pick 65 yds for a touchdown to bring the Vikings back from an early 7-3 deficit. The Viking defense would strike again when Hard Rocker QB Nick Russell was sacked in the endzone for a safety to close out the first quarter. The Vikings offensive attack closed out the game marching methodically down the field to score on an 89 yd drive in the third quarter and iced the contest with a fourth quarter touchdown.

VCSU will take on Jamestown College this Saturday in Valley City at Shelly Ellig Field; game time is 1:00 PM.
