FB: Vikings vs. Comets Preview

Oct. 05, 2011 10:20 AM | Author: Viking Sports Admin | Updated: Oct. 05th, 2011 2:04 PM

The Vikings (4-1, #20) will travel to Mayville State University (3-3) on Saturday for a 2:00 PM kick off. VCSU will look to stay undefeated in DAC play and continue to climb the national ratings. Mayvillle brings a strong rushing attack and unorthodox defense to the table. On offense the Vikings will continue to pressure teams with their multiple offensive weapons. 'You can't just shut down one guy on our offense, we have a number of weapons and that causes teams some issues in trying to stop us.' said Coach McCulloch. The weapons Coach Mac is referring to are: A.J. Pfeifer, LeTheo Proctor, Ken Eliacin, Nick Schoenecker, and Tommy Zinke. Now freshman Darius Anderson has emerged as another big play threat out of the backfield.

The Viking Defense has been playing well, allowing only 2.4 yds per play and 1.7 yds per rush in last week's game against Jamestown College. The front seven, led by senior Jordan Maher, will be key in this week's contest as stopping the run will be the focus.
