Valley City vs. Carroll College

Valley City State University will take on defending national champion Carroll College on Saturday in Helena MT at 1:07 PM.

The Vikings (9-1) are currently ranked 12th in the NAIA and Carroll (10-1) is ranked 2nd. Carroll won their 12th straight Frontier Conference championship this season while the Vikings won the DAC and make their first trip to the playoffs since 2001.

Carroll College brings an outstanding running game and talented offensive line that executes a zone blocking scheme. The Saints will try to run the ball and the Vikings will have to stay disciplined with gap responsibilities to slow down the Saints attack. Carroll ranks 3rd in rushing offense and Chance Demarais is the NAIA's leading rusher with 1422 yds. The Saints are also ranked 10th in rushing defense which will bring the Viking pass game into play even more in this matchup. Valley City's junior quarterback Tommy ZInke (Rola, ND) is the 8th ranked passer in the NAIA and has thrown for 2280yds with 24 touchdowns and only 8 interceptions. Once again the Vikings will have to use all of their weapons on offense. Senior wide receiver, and DAC MVP, LeTeo Proctor (Anchorage, AK) leads the Viking receiving core with 872yds and 10 touchdowns but is not the only weapon at Zinke's disposal. The Saints will also have to account for senior running back A.J. Pfeifer who totaled 1049yds rushing and seven touchdowns on the ground.
