The end of a holiday road trip proved to be too much for the Vikings as they were beaten by NCAA Division II St. Cloud State University by an 80-74 score.

After two solid road victories in Florida over the Thanksgiving break, Valley City State returned for one last road game on their holiday trip at St. Cloud State University. The Vikings held close with the Huskies, cutting the lead to two points several times throughout the second half but they couldn't take the outright lead, ending in a six point defeat.

A slow start hampered the Vikings. Shooting only 28% from the floor in the first half put the visitors at a nine point halftime deficit. Valley City State would turn things around in the second half however, shooting 51% from the floor and outscoring the home Huskies 49-46 in the second stanza. St. Cloud State sealed the game at the free throw line shooting 19 for 21 from the charity stripe in the second half.

Junior Sekani Milligen once again paced the Vikings on the offensive end posting a game high 21 points on six of fifteen shooting including three of eight from the three point line and a perfect six for six from the free throw line. Sophomore Aaron Duske totaled 17 points and senior Sylvester Walker narrowly missed a double double with eleven points and nine rebounds for the Vikings.

The game was labeled as an exhibition for Valley City State, therefore the loss does not count on their overall record. The Vikings stay at 6-3 on the season and will return home on Saturday, December 3rd with a 4:00 PM start versus the University of Sioux Falls.
