For the third year in a row, the Auction was sold out with over 500 attendees. Thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket and attended the event. With the ticket sales, games, live and silent auctions, raffles, and other contributions, approximately $70,000 was raised. This amount surpassed last year's record total and represents the most successful auction ever held at VCSU.

On behalf of the entire VCSU Community, a big word of THANKS to the individuals and businesses who supported the Auction. Your donations, purchases, bidding, and sponsorship are key to making the event such a success. Scholarships are a critical element in VCSU's ability to attract and retain talented students now and into the future.

The VCSU campus is expecting another larger-than-average incoming freshmen class as we prepare for Fall 2012. This will mark the third straight incoming class that is significantly larger than the recent historical average, and so your support ensuring a strong scholarship base is as important now as it ever has been. These new classes of freshmen students at the VCSU campus enrich not just the University, but they add to the overall fabric of our entire Valley City and Barnes County communities.

A special word of Thanks to all members of the Auction Committee who put forth so much effort ensuring a successful event. Committee members sold tickets, solicited donations, promoted the event, decorated at the Eagles, and contributed in a variety of other ways. The Committee includes Jack Denholm, Jenny Enger, Rhonda Fairfield, Tara & Tom Glandt, Sabrina Heywood, Kim & Wade Hesch, Diane Hill, Kayla Hoots, Susan Kolbow, Alison Kasowski, Trish Lueck, Loree Morehouse, Toyin Oladosu, Tara Praska, Patti Rickford, Larry Robinson, Stephanie Roelfsema, Katie Sather, Don Schaack, Joy Smith, Kari Stricklin, and Emma Tufte. VCSU is also fortunate to have many volunteers who serve on the V-500, Booster, Alumni, and Foundation Boards who put in much effort in making events such as the Auction a success.

Additionally, a word of thanks to VCSU's Alumni and Foundation Office and the VCSU Athletic Department for their efforts, and specifically to Kim Hesch for the dedication she provides in coordinating the overall Auction effort. Kim puts in countless hours preparing for the big event, and the resulting success is direct evidence of her hard work.

The support of community members at the Scholarship Auction helps ensure a strong and successful VCSU that is vital to the success of our community and region. We are already making plans for the 19th annual Auction in 2013 and look forward to seeing you there. On behalf of the entire VCSU campus – THANKS to everyone who supported the Auction!
