The Vikings went on the road Saturday to Madison, SD to take on Dakota State University.
The offense got on the board early with a 20 yard Tommy Zinke pass to Derek Elliot. However the home team responded with 17 unanswered points to take a 17-7 lead with 8:56 remaining in the second quarter. The ensuing drive by the Viking offense went 81 yards on 9 plays, which finished with a Taylor Cino 14 yard run for a touchdown. The following Trojan offensive drive only lasted one play as a result of defensive lineman Dwanye Fearon's forced fumble. Senior QB Tommy Zinke, took advantage of a short field with a 5 play 36 yard drive topped off with a 21 yard pass to running back Derek Elliot. The first half scoring finished with a Thomas Cortez 19 yard field goal.
The Trojans were first to get on the board in the second half, but the Vikings added 17 unanswered points to to push the score to 41-24. The first 3 points were a result of another Cortez field goal. Senior Tight End Ken Eliacin added the next two touchdowns with receptions of 24 and 63 yards from quarterback Tommy Zinke.
Senior defensive lineman Aaron Freije led the defense with 13 tackles on the day, as the defense held the Trojans rush attack to 71 yards on 35 carries. The defense also had a great pass rush on the day adding 6 sacks.
Tommy Zinke: 16/31 for 235 yards and 4 touchdowns
Ken Eliacin: 8 Receptions for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns
Derek Elliot: 2 Receptions for 41 yards and 2 touchdowns, 7 rushes for 47 yards.
Taylor Cino: 18 Rushes for 120 yards.
Aaron Freije: 13 tackles, 1 sack
Fontayne Fuga: 4 tackles, 2 sacks
Dwanye Fearon: 7 tackles, 2 sacks

The Vikings are back on the road again next weekend as they travel to Jamestown to take on the Jimmies.
