Eight to be honored by VCSU Alumni Association

The Valley City State University Alumni Association will recognize eight alumni at the Alumni Honors Breakfast, which will be held at the VCSU Student Center on Saturday, September 29 at 9:00 am. The Honors Breakfast provides the VCSU Alumni Association with an opportunity to present fellow alumni with the Certificate of Merit and Alumni Service awards.

The Certificate of Merit award was adopted by the VCSU Alumni Association to recognize alumni for accomplishments, service or other noteworthy honors. Recipients this year include Curtis Cannon '91, Susan German '73, Tamara Grimm '83, Vanessa Kocka '00, Dianne Loberg '73, Joel Martin '97, Carina Roehrich '91 and Barb Thomason '66.

Dave Bass, a 1977 graduate of VCSU and faculty member in VCSU's School of Education and Graduate Studies, will receive the Alumni Service Award. The Alumni Service Award was adopted to recognize alumni or university friends who have attained exceptional achievement in their careers and have made significant contributions to the University through dedicated service, promotion, financial support, or other efforts.

Tickets for the Alumni Honors Breakfast are $6 each and may be reserved by calling the VCSU Alumni Office at 701-845-7203 or via email to kim.hesch@vcsu.edu.

Homecoming activities for alumni begin on Friday, September 28 with a reunion and alumni social on Friday evening beginning at 7:00 pm at the Valley City VFW Club. All alumni and friends of VCSU are welcome to this social. Cost to attend is $15 per person or $25 per couple which includes drink tickets, light appetizers, official Homecoming souvenir and music. Saturday's activities include the Homecoming parade at 11:00 am, football game against South Dakota School of Mines & Technology at 1:00 pm, and a post-game social held at the Valley City Eagles at 4:00 pm.
