Graichen Gym erupted last night as the Vikings played an intense five set match against Mayville State University. Leading the offense was junior middle hitter Aurissa Martens with 23 kills, followed by senior outside hitter Jill Noeske with 18 kills on the night. Sophomore Kaitlyn Heuring had a breakout night, registering 10 kills with only one attacking error on 16 attempts, finishing with a .563 attack percentage. Defensively, the Vikings tallied 73 digs and freshmen libero Emily Plowman notched 27 digs, Anna Neufeld with 11, and Martens with 10.

The Vikings passed the ball well all night keeping the offense in system most of the night. 'I am very proud of the way the team fought last night. After losing the third set 28-30, we could have been easily deflated, but we bounced back and won the fourth and fifth sets!' says head coach Susan Kolbow. This was a must win match for the Vikings, as they fell to Mayville State 3-0 earlier in the season. Last night's victory will help keep the Vikings in contention for an AII conference tournament spot.

The Vikings are on a three game win streak, hoping to keep the momentum as they head to Aberdeen, SD on Saturday October 13th to play Presentation College.
