The NAIA Pre-Season poll has been released and the Valley City State University Vikings find themselves ranked 24th.
After spending much of last year in the national rankings, the Vikings, who finished last season with a 20-10 record, fell out of the rankings in the final poll of the season which ultimately determines the field for the national tournament. Now back in the polls, the Vikings are the lone A.I.I. team to be ranked in the top 25, with rival Jamestown College just a few spots behind, receiving votes and narrowly missing the top 25.
Northwood (FL) received the top ranking and defending national champion Oregon Tech sits in the #2 spot. The Vikings start the season with two top ten opponents as they travel to Iowa to face #7 Northwestern College and #3 Dordt College the weekend of November 2nd and 3rd.
Later in the season the Vikings will play California with the University of California-Maritime, who also received votes in the national poll.
The pre-season ranking marks the fourth season out of the past six in which the Vikings have been ranked in the national poll.
