The Valley City State University Women's Basketball Team narrowly missed the Pre-Season NAIA Top 25 National Basketball Poll announced earlier this week.
Fresh off back-to-back NAIA National Tournament appearances, the Vikings received 42 points in the Pre-Season NAIA Basketball Poll. St. Francis University (IL) was ranked in the 25th spot of the poll, receiving 46 total points.
The Vikings finished 19-15 last season and received an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament for the second consecutive year by way of a second place A.I.I. Conference Tournament finish. Valley City State returns all five starters from the 2011-12 squad and have welcomed a highly touted recruiting class for the upcoming season.
Valley City State opens the 2012-13 season on the road on November 2nd and 3rd with an Iowa road trip that will pit the Vikings against pre-season number two ranked Northwestern College on the first night and Dordt College the second before returning to the W. E. Osmon Fieldhouse for four consecutive home games beginning on November 9th versus NCAA-Division II Minnesota State University-Moorhead.
