Two games in two days at the Dickinson State University Milanovich Basketball Classic yielded two wins for Valley City State University as they pushed their overall record to 5-1 on the season.
Led by Brittany Lehner, the Vikings for the second time in a week, recorded a victory over Dickinson State by a 61-52 score. Lehner scored 16 points on five of eight shooting from the floor and six of ten from the free throw line.
Although not as crisp offensively as they were in their tournament opening win over Rocky Mountain, the Vikings defense stymied the host Blue Hawks, forcing 25 turnovers in the game and limiting Dickinson State to just 3 of 16 shooting from the three point line.
Courtney Titus and Sadiqah Jihad also hit double figures for Valley City State chipping in with 12 and 10 points respectively. Katelyn Ralston hauled down eight rebounds to lead the Vikings on the board.
With the win the Vikings run their consecutive win streak to five. Valley City State travels to the University of Mary on Tuesday, November 27 for an exhibition game against the NCAA Division II Mauraders. Game time in Bismarck is set for 7:00 PM.
